A step-by-step guide to installing side mount barn door tracks

Rolltrak side mount barn door tracks come in a variety of finishes and styles to suit any home and interior. Follow our steps below to install your very own side mount barn door track.

 

How to Barn Door Side Mount Tools

TOOLS USED

You’ll need to keep the following tools on hand before starting the assembly process:

  • Electric drill
  • Drill bits – 2.8mm, 3mm, 6.5mm, 8mm, 11mm
  • Tape measure
  • Level
  • Marking tools – pencil, screw
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Router
  • Socket wrench

How to Barn Door Side Mount Step1
Step 1:

Position the track 44mm above the top of the door opening.

Step 2:

Using the track, mark the existing holes against the studs in your wall.

Step 3:

Drill holes using the appropriate drill bit depending on your wall type.

Step 4:

Fix the track to the wall using the provided M8 x 90mm screws.

Step 5:

Prepare your barn door.

Step 6:

Using the provided drilling template, mark the drilling location on both sides of your barn door.

Step 7:

Drill out the marked locations using a 10mm drill bit.

Step 8:

Before attaching the rollers to your door, ensure you use the correct bolts for the door thickness as shown above.

Step 9:

Attach the rollers to your door using a socket wrench.

Step 10:

Install anti-jumps 51mm from the inside of the rollers.

Step 11:

Before placing the rollers on the track, ensure the anti-jumps are swivelled away from the track.

Step 12:

Once the roller has been placed on the track, rotate the anti-jump 180° so it sits underneath the track.

Step 13:

To install the floor guide, line up the guide with the track in the door and the edge of the door opening and mark the drill holes.

Step 14:

For timber floors, drill out the holes using a 2.5mm drill bit.

Step 15:

For masonry floors, insert 8mm plugs before fixing the floor guide.

Fix the floor guide with the provided ST4.2 x 35mm screws.

Step 17:

To install the door stops, firstly move the barn door to an open position along the track leaving a 25mm overlap with the door opening.

Place the first door stop onto the track and against the roller and tighten the screws using the provided Allen key.

Step 19:

Move the door into a closed position ensuring that there is at least 25mm overlap with the door opening on both sides.

Step 20:

Place the second door stop onto the track and against the roller and tighten the screws using the provided Allen key.

Step 21:

Insert the blanking plugs into the holes at both ends of the track.
